It now costs less to file an application for federal trademark registration! The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has announced a major fee reduction for all electronically filed trademark applications through its TEAS and TEAS Plus filing systems. The new USPTO trademark filing fees are $275 for TEAS applications (down from $325), and $225 for qualifying TEAS Plus applications (down from $275). In addition, the filing fee for Section 9 trademark renewals has been reduced from $400 to $300.
The new rates come into effect January 17, 2015. The USPTO hopes to encourage more electronic filings and reduce hard copy submissions with the new lower filing fees.
